Originally Issued: July 27, 2004
Last Updated: October 22, 2004
This Q100021 update is intended to update Service Release 6 (SR6) dated 12/11/2003.
IMPORTANT UPDATE:If you downloaded Q100021.exe before October 22, 2004, you should re-download
this file as it has been updated (see Q100023). If you have not installed Q100021, just use this updated file. If you have already installed Q100021, please install the update Q100023.
Q100021 Corrections and Additions (since Service Release 6):
All Editions of PRONTO Server
ERSS:
- PRONTO Server transactions initiated with either
the COM or XML API now setup much faster due to database access
optimization. This is especially true on PRONTO Server installations
with a large number of existing transactions in the database.
- A status report has been added to PRONTO Server.
This report is accessed in the "\Reports\" sub-directory at
"\prontosvr2\reports\status.asp". You should change the IIS access
control for this sub-directory to require authenticated access. DO NOT
change access control on the "\prontosvr2\" directory, only the
"\Reports\" sub-directory. This report will permit you to check the
status of transactions within PRONTO Server ERSS.
- The product documentation has been updated in
the \Docs\ directory, inlcuding a new database schema (Visio drawing).
- A new user notification method has been added,
in addition to "url" and "email" (this is the "link" attribute /
property of the SIGNER element (AddSigner in COM). The new method is
"file". If you specify "file" for the "link" type, the signature pending
notification message is written to the file share you specify, rather
than sent as an e-mail. The message is the same as the e-mail message
and is written in HTML format. This supports work flow systems where
users check file share locations to see if anything is pending. The XML
DTD has been updated to reflect this.
- Documents that have expired, have been signed or
cancelled may not be re-viewed by using the inbound URL link to the
signature. If previous editions, returning to the original signature
link would re-display the document as a signed document. Also someone
could sign a document and use their BACK button to cancel the signature.
This behavior is not permitted. The only exception to this is if the
user "suspends" the transaction, they may return on the original URL
link to sign.
- There are three new signature types to support
adding initials rather than full signatures to pages. These three types
are "initial", "initial-small" and "initial-xsmall". These are text
types which will take the full name provided and use only the first
letters of words. "John Smith" becomes "JS" on the page. The XML DTD has
been updated to reflect these types.
- E-mail notifications and signed document delivery (via e-mail) is now faster
and more efficient.
Enterprise Edition only:
- PRONTO Server now uses transparent GIF images
for all signature images, whether from "live", "mouse2" or "registered"
signature types. This permits the overlay of signature images in PDF
documents without obscuring the underlying document. The image and added
text (on PDFs) is now a dark blue color to simulate blue pen ink. Extra
white space around signature images is cropped.
- There are two additional reports in the
"\Reports" sub-directory (see #2 above). a "Users.asp" report will
report on registered users in the Users table, and "AddUser.asp" gives
you an easy way to add a user to the Users table.
- PRONTO Server now supports the use of either
GIF, JPEG or BMP images stored in the "SignatureImage" field of the
Users table as formats for storing a registered users hand-written
signature image. PRONTO Server will translate these to transparent GIFs
during the signing process.
- For PDF formatted documents using a "standard"
signature type, previously the document would print the text "(e-sig
info)" next to the name and this would be a Web link to the signature
status page. This has been eliminated. The Web link is now part of the
actual printed name. This makes it consistant with image signature types.
Now, clicking on the printed name (or image) is necessary to launch the
signature status page.
- Names will now be capitalized in PDF as they are
in HTML unless you specify "query-x" or "static-x" instead of "query" or
"static".
- PDF formatted documents now support signature placement using two new
methods in addition to absolute PAGE, X, Y placement. You may now search for
specific text on a single page or the whole document and place the signature
relative to the found text. Also, on the first signature, you may specify placement
as a replacement for a PDF form field with a specific name. This will be expanded in
the next release to work for all signatures in a document. Please see the documentation
for full details.
The following are step by step instructions for installing Q100021 over Service Release 6
of PRONTO Server v2.5:
You must have installed all prior software patches
through Q100019. In other words, you must be upgraded to SR6 before you
can upgrade to SR7. Service Releases are NOT
cumulative. See http://www.alphatrust.com/support for more information.
NOTE: These instructions assume that your PRONTO Server was installed on the local C:
drive of your Server in "C:\AlphaTrust\". If you installed to a different
location, changes these instructions accordingly.
Conduct these operations when transactions will not be taking place.
- Reboot the machine. Contact
"support@alphatrust.com" for an alternate method if reboot is not
possible.
- Log in with Administrator rights.
- Stop the following Windows 2000 / 2003 Services:
- AlphaTrust PRONTO Server Service.
- World Wide Web Service.
- Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) Service.
- HTTP SSL (Windows Server 2003 only).
- IIS Admin Service.
- Check to see that all six PRONTO... COM+
applications are not running using the Component Services console. If
any are running, then right-click on all "Pronto..." COM+ applications
that are running and select "Shut Down". This releases these DLLs so
they may be overwritten.
- Shut down all "IIS In-Process..." and "IIS
Out-Of-Process..." COM+ applications using the Component Services
Console as in step 4.
- Using the Component Services console, delete all
six "Pronto..." COM+ applications.
- Run the "Q100021.exe" program
and specify the root of the drive where PRONTO Server was installed
(i.e. "C:\"). This should cause the new files to over-write the existing
files. Make sure there are no errors on the un-zipping of these files.
There should be no file conflicts if all the steps above were followed.
- Look in the "C:\AlphaTrust\Pronto\Programs\"
directory. The file "Update_Q100021.txt", should be
present and also present in the
"C:\AlphaTrust\Pronto\Setup\Updates\Q100021\" directory.
- Run the "Q100021.bat" file
located in the "C:\AlphaTrust\Pronto\Setup\Updates\Q100021\" directory.
Make sure this completes successfully.
- ENTERPRISE EDITION ONLY: Run
the "Q100021e.bat" file located in the
"C:\AlphaTrust\Pronto\Setup\Updates\Q100021\Enterprise\" directory. Make
sure this completes successfully.
- Run the file "vbrun60.exe"
located in the "C:\AlphaTrust\Pronto\Setup\Win2000\" or the
"C:\AlphaTrust\Pronto\Setup\Win2003\" directory.
- Using the Component Services console, re-install
all six "Pronto... " COM+ applications
located at "C:\AlphaTrust\Pronto\Setup\Win2000\" or the "C:\AlphaTrust\Pronto\Setup\Win2003\"
directory (depending on which Server OS you are running). Do not
run these files directly, but use Component Services to install.
IMPORTANT: Follow the instructions
contained in Step 6 of the "Pronto Server Software Installation
Guide..." for your operating system, regarding the (a)
installation location (the "C:\AlphaTrust\Pronto\Programs\" directory,
and (b) the Application Identity (run as the "ProntoServer" account). Do
not accept the default COM+ values for these two items or PRONTO
Server will not function.
- Using SQL Query Analyzer (logged in with db
admin permissions to the "Pronto" database), run the script
"Q100021.sql" located in the
"C:\AlphaTrust\Pronto\Setup\Updates\Q100021\" directory. This will add a
field to the "Signature" table.
- Using Internet Information Services Manager,
change the directory security setting for the subdirectory "Reports"
under the "/Prontosvr2/" virtual directory to "Integrated Windows
Authentication" only. Clear all other options.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT change directory security on
its parent directory "/Prontosvr2/". Prontosvr2 needs to remain
"Anonymous" only.
- Restart the services stopped in step 3 above.
