Status: Critical Software Update (corrects signing and verification functions. Also updates software documentation).

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are installing this update over the Gold Release of PRONTO™ Server, rather than Service Release 1, you MUST apply the Q100001, Q100002, Q100004, and Q100006 updates for PRONTO Server v2.5 Gold before applying this update.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are installing this update over the SR-1 Release of PRONTO™ Server, you MUST apply the Q100006, update for PRONTO Server v2.5 before applying this update.

This Q100008 update is intended to update both Gold Release version of AlphaTrust PRONTO Server v2.5 dated 10/21/2002, and PRONTO Server v2.5 Service Release 1 (SR1) dated 12/16/2002.

Q100008 corrects an error in the digital signature computation and verification functions of PRONTO Server software. These fixes are backward compatible with transactions conducted before this fix is applied. This fix superceeds Q100007 and may be installed over it or instead of Q100007.

Q100008 also updates PRONTO Server generally, using new SMTP mail components and a new HTTP/HTTPS engine.

Q100008 adds support for multiple email messages. There is now a set of email message templates per ACCOUNT (SQL ACCOUNT table entry). The Default templates come with the product. See the updated documentation for more information.

Q100008 updates the Application Development Manual and the Software Installation Manual in the \Docs\ directory.

The following are step by step instructions for installing Q100008 over the Gold Release version or SR1 version of PRONTO Server v2.5:

NOTE: These instructions assume that your Pronto Server was installed on the local C: drive of your Windows 2000 Server in "C:\AlphaTrust\". If you installed to a different location, changes these instructions accordingly.

1. Stop the following Windows 2000 Services:
   • AlphaTrust PRONTO Server Service.
   • World Wide Web Service.
   • Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) Service.
   • IIS Admin Service.
2. Shut down all six PRONTO... COM+ applications using the Component Services console. Right-click on all Pronto... COM+ applications and select "Shut Down". This releases these DLLs so they may be overwritten.
3. Run the "Q100008.exe" program and specify the root of the drive where Pronto Server was installed (i.e. "c:\"). This should cause the new files to over-write the existing files. Make sure there are no errors on the un-zipping of these files. There should be no file conflicts if all the steps above were followed.
4. Look in the "\AlphaTrust\Pronto\Programs\" directory. The file "Update-Q100008.txt" should be present. Updated documents will also be in the \Docs\ directory, the \Setup\Win2000\ directory and the \Setup\Updates\ directory.
5. Restart the services stopped in step 1 above.
